    The new European Directive, which will enter into force in 2018, would allow technical inspections to analyze the electronic control units of the vehicles and measure the exhaust emissions more accurately.

    Supervisión Y Control opens in A Sionlla the PTI station of the future with a modular system that is a pioneer in spain

    • The construction of this innovative model, that allows changing the size of the station according to demand and reduce the cost, is the result of the collaboration between the UDC and Supervisión y Control, holder of the vehicle technical inspection in Galicia.
    • The model, patented at the University of A Coruña, was developed by the Special Structures Group of the Higher Technical Architecture School.
    • The new station consists of two lanes, one for light vehicles and one universal, and its expected that it will reach around 25,000 inspections in the first year.
    • The event was attended by the mayor of Santiago de Compostela, the regional Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment, the rector of the University of A Coruña, the regional delegate of Xunta de Galicia and the President of Fomento de Iniciativas Group.

    Traffic authorities will use cameras with number plate readers to detect vehicles without a valid PTI

    During the presentation of a series of measures developed by different Road Safety associations with the aim to avoid 50,000 accidents per year, the Chief Executive of the Traffic Department announced that some cameras had already been installed for this purpose and could be implemented immediately. The measure is aimed at reducing the almost two million vehicles which are currently being used on Spanish roads with a failed or expired vehicle test certificate, putting at risk other road users. The figures speak for themselves: having a valid PTI prevents 170 deaths and at least 11,000 accidents per year. Read more

    Almost 7000 vehicles registered in Costa da Morte have not undergone PTI

    In the 16 municipalities of Bergantiños, Soneira and Fisterra, as well as Cerceda, there are almost 7000 vehicles pending passing the periodical technical inspection (PTI). According to Spanish Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) figures, we are talking about 6982 cars from  a fleet composed of 87204 vehicles, which represents 8% of the total at the end of 2014. According to the Spanish Ministry of Internal Affairs, these percentages are similar to those of other areas in Galicia, such as Santiago and its surrounding area.

    26 % of the 124,259 vehicles that underwent technical inspection last year at Peinador had to repeat it, specifically 37,095. Greater requirements from the official regulation to guarantee road safety are behind the slight increase observed compared to last year, although “car maintenance in Vigo is quite good, it has not decreased due to the crisis”, declares the Director of PTI station at Peinador, Alberto Zalvide.
